- 1. ใช้เป็นยาป้องกันการเกิดโรคหัวใจเนื่องจากหลอดเลือดโคโรนารี (coronary heart disease) , และการเกิดกล้ามเนื้อหัวใจขาดเลือด (myocardial infarction) ในผู้ป่วยที่มีโคเลสเตอรอลในเลือดสูง ,, ไขมันในเลือดผิดปกติชนิดผสม , ไตรกลีเซอไรด์ในเลือดสูง ชนิด (Type) IIa, IIb และ IV, 2. ใช้รักษาภาวะไขมันในเลือดผิดปกติชนิดอื่น ๆ เช่น, - ชนิด III และ V, - ที่เกิดร่วมกับเบาหวาน, - ที่เกิดร่วมกับตุ่มนูนสีเหลืองของผิวหนัง (Xanthomata), - ที่เกิดจากสาเหตุอื่น ๆ, 3. ใช้ ไลโปคอร์ เมื่อมีการควบคุมจำกัดอาหาร, การออกกำลังกาย, งดสูบบุหรี่ และเหล้า, เพื่อลดระดับโคเลสเตอรอลและไตรกลีเซอไรด์ไม่ได้ผล,
