- 1. วัณโรค ใช้รักษาวัณโรคทั้งในระยะเริ่มต้นและเรื้อรัง โดยต้องให้ร่วมกับยารักษาวัณโรคอื่นอย่างน้อยหนึ่งชนิดเสมอ เช่น , ไอโสไนอะสิด (INH), ไพราซินาไมด์ (Pyrazinamide), 2. ใช้เป็นยาป้องกันการเกิดโรคเยื่อหุ้มสมองอักเสบจากเชื้อ N.meningitides และ โรค H. influenzae (Type b) ในผู้ที่ใกล้ชิด, หรือพยาบาลผู้ป่วยดังกล่าว, 3. ใช้เป็นยารักษาผู้ที่เป็นพาหะของเชื้อ N.meningitides ซึ่งมีเชื้ออยู่ใน nasopharynx แต่ไม่มีอาการของโรค
